Founded in 1950, Tutmarc Realty was formed as a partnership between Lorraine Tutmarc and her son Paul H. Tutmarc, Jr.
They had started out working together as salespeople at Morrison Realty in the late 1940's in Seattle, but decided they wanted to go out on their own as soon as Paul had earned his brokers license.
Originally called "Lorraine Tutmarc Realty" reflecting Lorraine's ownership of the firm while Paul was the Broker of record.
Eventually, Lorraine gave up her ownership to Paul in the late 50's and the name was changed to Tutmarc Realty.
In addition to his real estate brokerage work, Paul was active in new construction with his Jeryl Ann construction company, active as an escrow agent with his Sea-King Escrow, and started Tutmarc Insurance to provide homeowner insurance coverage to his clients.
Paul's son Greg came into the business in 1975 as a salesman and became an associate broker several years later.
When Paul retired in 1993, Greg became the sole broker and moved the office from its North Seattle location to Kirkland and later to Bellevue.
Cary Tutmarc, nephew of Greg, joined the firm in 2006. This made him the 4th generation Tutmarc working for the family owned business.
